Overview
What to Expect
Located in the heart of France, the Auvergne is fantastic driving country with rolling, sparsely-traveled roads passing through vineyards, picturesque countryside, and unspoilt villages. Warm and welcoming, yet retaining the rustic character of its spectacular mountains and valleys, the Auvergne is teeming with heritage and history.
The volcanoes of the Auvergne are what make the region so unusual and distinct, with the Chaîne des Puys stretching over 35 kilometers in a ribbon of 80 dormant volcanoes. The surrounding landscape is dotted with ancient villages, medieval churches, and small farms.
With the Puys Mountains providing a breathtaking backdrop, your 3-day getaway begins in Clermont-Ferrand, with a sightseeing tour of the town’s quiet streets, Renaissance houses, medieval churches, and its magnificent Gothic cathedral built of black volcanic rock.
Everything is organized for you throughout the trip, including a detailed itinerary, road book, roadside assistance, guided visits to places of interest, 3-star accommodation, and first-class cuisine.
