Air New Zealand’s inaugural Dreamliner flight between Auckland and Hawaii is set to take off.

The Boeing 787-9 will depart Auckland International Airport at 8.55pm on Tuesday night and is due to arrive in Honolulu at 7.30am the same day.

This year Air New Zealand increased its service between Auckland and Honolulu to four times weekly.

The Dreamliner aircraft will replace Boeing 767-300s on the route, and combined with the increase in frequency, will deliver an almost 20 per cent capacity increase, the airline said.

“As Hawaii continues to be a popular holiday destination for Kiwi travellers, we’re thrilled to be adding additional capacity and are confident more Australian customers will be looking to connect through Auckland on our evening Dreamliner service,” Air New Zealand chief sales and commercial officer Cam Wallace said.

The 787-9 has 18 fully lie flat business premier seats, 21 premium economy seats and 263 economy seats including Skycouch – a row of three economy seats that convert to a bed.
